Fundamentals of Burn Injury Management Module
This module was developed using the Emergency Management of Severe Burns (EMSB) developed by the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association (ANZBA) and the Fiona Stanley Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital operational guidelines in Western Australia (WA).
This module outlines the emergency treatment of burns and includes the principles of:
- Burn epidemiology
- Burn aetiology
- Burns prevention
- Emergency management of burns patients
- Burn wound depth
- Burn wound management and referral criteria.
The aim of this online module is to provide you with the theoretical knowledge and understanding necessary to prevent, recognise and manage burn injury.
The Fundamentals of Burn Injury Management module is suitable for all health and student health professionals working with clients/patients who have the potential to or have sustained a burn injury, from simple scalds to burns that require emergency management and fluid resuscitation. Access to the module is for 12 months and you can jump in and out of the course as often as you want, with each module remembering where you left off.
This module is accredited by the Australian College of Nursing and The Australian College of Midwives for 6 hours of CPD. It is also accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as a Category 2 QI&CPD activity and by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine as a PDP activity.
